feeling vista

Dahil wala akong magawa kahapon, at bago pa man ako tambakan ng trabaho ngayong araw, nagpakasaya muna ako sa pagdodownload ng mga software para pagandahin ang aking desktop.

I'm using WinXP. At dahil naiinggit ako sa ibang officemates na Vista ang gamit, naghanap ako ng themes para magmukhang Vista ang aking desktop. I used StyleXP. Eto ang finished product.


O diba. parang totoo. Got the wallpaper sa www.customize.org na madami ding themes, wallpapers etc. AT may option pa and styleXP na gawing transparent ang toolbar at start menu.


Haha! halata bang wala akong ginagawa sa office? Ngayon lang yan. Ididiscuss na kasi sakin ang workload ko mamaya. Magsisimula na ang totoong laban! (weh?!)

my worst morning yet

I arrived at the GMA/Kamuning Station at around 7:15.
One of the trains stopped for approximately 20 minutes. I managed to get in at around 7:40.
My work starts at 8:30. Nothing can go wrong...I can arrive on time.
The train is slow. Stopped twice along the way. Arrived at the Buendia Station at around 8:15.
15 minutes left...
A crowd of 30+ people is waiting at the FX/Bus Stop. Great!
My watch is 10 minutes advance. It's already 8:30 on my watch. I started to panic.
I shoved people in front of me just to get in the bus. Thanks to me they got in.
Traffic at Ayala Avenue. the minute hand is slowly approaching the number 9...(ay, wala palang number ang watch ko.hehe...)
I dashed towards the underpass and inside the building. I hope I'm not late.

Other than that, I'm lovin' it.

Mababait ang mga tao, wala pang mapapel na tao, OK ang temperature, and many more nice things.

I survived the first week of work, sana makasurvive pa sa sobrang crucial ng gagawin kong program...

For the past days and weeks I have experienced the hardships an employee must endure for his/her first job ever. After signing a centimeter thick of forms from my selected company (anu kaya yun?), marami pa pala ang kailangan gawin. Mabuti nagawa ko na yung iba weeks before.

Physical Exam
Siyempre alam ko purpose nito: make sure that the company employs healthy people in order to lessen health expenditures in case teh employee became sick. Hehe...

This is actually my third time having a medical exam. Pero tinamaan ako ng kaba kasi marami akong narinig na scary things about company medical exams. The worst is the "papatuwarin" at "sasalatin". At totoo pala lahat yun, and a lot more! Haha. Also, I had to spend 3000 pesos worth of dental prophylaxis (read:cleaning) and permanent filling (read:pasta sa ngipin). 3000 PESOS! Ang mom ko kasi, sa Healthway The Block branch nagpapacheck-up ng libre (sosyal!). Eh dun na din ako nagpa-cleaning at nagpa-pasta. Ayun, naubos pera namin. May 15% discount pa yun ha! T.T

Pabalik balik ako sa clinic for 4 days because of my blood pressure na hindi nakikipagcooperate sa akin. Ngarag naman kasi ako sa lakad papunta dun. Tsaka siguro dahil may LBM ako nung pumunta ako one time...Anyways, I passed the medical exam siguro because I will start on April 16. It's good that they are allowing color blind individuals to work in their company (damn that kookaburra, chorva, whatever, test for colorblindness!).

NBI clearance
Yesterday is the start of my kalbaryo towards completing my employment requirements. I arrived 10AM sa NBI-Plaridel Branch and I got my NBI clearance at around 2PM. That was quick. Computerized na siguro. And I have to go to Makati to fill up the other forms for my employment. Sumakit talaga ulo ko, 1 hour akong nag fill-up ng forms. My hands...My G-Tec ballpen...My stomach...huhuhu...

SSS, TIN, pictures
TIN is easy, online reg. Daanan na lang yung card sometime. SSS daw talaga ang ngarag. I have to choose: SSS East Ave or sa Bulacan. I have to choose Bulacan, since palagi akong dumadaan sa East Ave seeing all those swarm of individuals falling in line. Baka sa Bulacan mas konti ang tao. For those ID pictures, madali na lang yun.

apartment/boarding house/bed spacer anyone?
One of the reasons I want to work early is because I want to get out of my sister's apartment because of the people there and the dog. kinagat ba naman ako ng hinayupak! Hindi na tuloy flawless legs ko. Since I didn't have my independence in my college life, this time is the best time kasi may sweldo na ako.Harhar...

I am supposed to have my housemates at magre-rent kami ng apartment. Pero Teejay is in Ortigas. Si Jerry, hindi ko pa alam. I am in Makati. So hiwa-hiwalay. Kaya i'm considering kahit bed spacer lang. Or boarding house. Pero napapansin ko lang, bakit puro "LADY BEDSPACER: INQUIRE INSIDE" lagi kong nakikita? Dahil kaya may manyakis na may-ari sa loob?hmmm...

April 16. A start of a new chapter in my life...chos!

Penitensiya

OK, sorry. I broke my penitence for this Holy Week that I will not surf the net for four days starting yesterday. Maybe I'm not that good in making sacrifices. Or I am just bored at home surrounded by my makukulit na nephews. Or I need to do something aside from eating. Oh well...

Things that I learned this past few weeks.

1. A Medical Exam is a pain in the ass, literally.


2. Im colorblind, and it's official.


3. It's bad being too concerned to someone to the point you worry too much and can't sleep.


4. Kalderetang baka is delicious.


5. One of my dreams may come true. It is all about ending the academic year with a bang.






Look ! I can't believe this! First time in history! An average student who will become a university scholar! C'mon c'mon!

Sorry, first time. Malay mo, bagsak pala kami sa thesis (heaven forbid). Pero ang galing noh? Sorry, excited. Akala ko kasi tres ako sa Socio10. Hehe...overwhelmed ako masyado. Tumataas ang blood pressure ko. Aaargh!


Dahil dyan, may bago akong motto: Masarap ang bawal.

If eating chocolate mousse is a sin, then I am in hell

It's my nephew's birthday yesterday. So you know what that means. Aside from wala akong regalo sa kanya dahil sa angking kakuriputan ko, my mom cooked the best pansit ever and my sister bought a chocolate mousse cake.

Para sa mga hindi nakakaalam, chocolate mousse cake from Red Ribbon is one of (if not) the best cakes in the whole wide universe, followed closely by black forest and ube macapuno. This 500 calorie per serving, orgasm inducing, undeniably delicious and tempting cake is one of the reasons why I ballooned to 170+ pounds one time in my life when I was left at home and there is a whole cake of chocolate mousse in the ref.

I've been invlved in weight loss activities before like jogging, lifting weights and other wholesome(!) things that can make me sweat. But eventually, I keep on quitting every time. Nakakatamad kasi eh, pero ako makakaattract ng chikas kapag malaki tiyan ko? Baka maka-attract lang ako ng heavenly bodies at mag-orbit around ko kapag hindi ako naghinay-hinay sa pagkain.

So I will start slowly but surely. My sis is always drinking this tea that will make you get rid of harmful toxins in your body in the foulest-smelling way possible. Nakakapayat daw yung tea kapag used daily. Kaya mega try naman ako.

Ayos naman ang results. I have a regular bowel (hindi consonant) movement, happy disposition (magaan ang pakiramdam ko palagi pagkagising) and a painful anus because of crapping more than usual. Pero at least regular yung bowel movement ko. Pero hindi ko alam kung pano siya nakakapayat. Siguro dahil sa ijejebs mo lahat ng jebs na naimbak sa intestines mo na naipon ng isang siglo.

The second phase is after work (naks, parang may work na), I will go to the gym and work out. Or invite friends for a badminton session. Or stress myself to death in order to lose weight. Whatever. Then eventually, I will stop because of my dear old friend, Mr. Katamaran.

I'm getting depressed because of my "katamaran". I need to buy a choco mousse cake...

It's Over!

At last, the final thesis presentation is over! One more thesis presentation (in a relatively smaller audience) and possibly a presentation in the URC are possibly next. One more quiz and exam in French10, one oral exam for Socio10 and a written exam in IE3 and I am all done with my acads. Yehey!

But I am still bothered if I will accept one of my job offers (parang ang daming offer ah!). Kamusta naman kasi, APRIL 1 ang start. Walang bakasyon bakasyon. Pero ang gusto ko naman ay makapagtrabaho na at magkaroon ng silbi sa lipunan bilang isang mabuting tax payer ng Pilipnas. Naks, parang totoo. Ang gusto ko lang naman ay makaalis sa bahay, lumayo kay bayaw(ak) at makabili ng PS3 at bagong phone. Yun lang naman.

Anyways, I'm gonna spend my remaining time in UP to enjoy and complete all of my requirements. Goodluck, graduates of 2007!

and now, the end is near...

...and so I face, the final curtain.

Thesis presentation na sa wednesday. 75% complete na yata kami. yata. may problem sa pageexecute ng external processes. kelangan siya kasi our main program is java. The program that we are trying to execute is in C. The exe file won't work because it's compiled in cygwin. I think we should port on a linux OS. three days left. c'mon!

Masakit pala sa tiyan kapag ang almusal mo ay V-Cut. argggh! Gutom na ko!

I can't write anything...no inspiration whatsoever...waaaaah!

BTW, PBB is back! But only 6 housemates entered. Bummer. The other housemates are scheduled to arrive this week. probably on Saturday? Hindi ba unfair sa iba yun kasi mas marami ng exposure yung naunang 6? oh well...So far, no early bets. A UP Maroon is expected to go inside the house:Bruce Quebral, the "basketball hunk" daw from the teasers is entering the house this week. Siya raw yung nasa revicon commercial...kebs.

AI is also back! But unlike before that there are obvious standouts, wala akong makita ngayon. I'm rooting for Melinda Doolittle, Jordin Sparks (for the girls) Blake Lewis and Chris Sligh (for the guys). I'm guessing a girl will win this season, and the pattern will be more evident. (girl-guy-girl-girl-guy-?)

My life is boring right now. Thank God for reality TV!...and Grey's Anatomy of course.

I hate Socio10!

Bakit ko ba kinuha tong subject na to? Grrr...

So many terms. So many ideas. So few hot classmates. So many readings. And that exam? So long. Dapat nag Anthro10 or SocSci3 na lang ako. kung hindi ko lang to kailangang kailangan, idodrop ko na ito.

Ok tama na. Baka masira lang araw ko. May interview pa naman ako mamaya. Interview na naman?! Mabuti nalabhan na mga pants at polo ko.Weee!

I'm officially addicted to Grey's Anatomy. I am still finishing Season 2, then I will buy (or download) Season 3 and store it in a DVD. Bakit nga ba ako na-addict dito? Ung E.R. naman hindi ko masyadong sinubaybayan. Hindi ko type yung Scrubs. I also like House pero wala akong makitang DVD. Maybe it's the medical cases (pero mas OK ang cases ng House) and the relationships between the interns, residents and attendings. And I also like the characters (Christina Yang and Miranda Bailey!). And maybe I can relate to George's character.hehe...

And also, last Saturday is the best Saturday of my entire life!!! :D

Yesterday is the most stressful day of my entire life. More stressful than making my way through Recto. Ok, maybe it is as stressful as making my way through Recto. Imagine, two interviews in a day, both on different locations, add to that Ayala's sea of people in the MRT station, my aching feet and my grumbling tummy. And what do you get? Renz, ten pounds lighter. Haha... I wish!

It all started right after the moment I stepped out of our house's door. I'm still wearing my ONE AND ONLY pair of leather shoes. Leather shoes with no extra padding or cushion to support my 120 pound body. (Haha... I wish!) Add a pair of socks, VERY THIN pair of socks. Its like I'm not wearing any shoes at all. OK, good start for a very long day full of walking.

I'm late na for my first subject kaya I decided to surf the net muna in our Department before going to Ayala. (hehe...hindi napigilang mag-Tagalog. Nyahaha!)

*Fast forward to _____ building after the interview*

It's past 12, and I just finished my interview in the largest mobile telecom company in the Philippines (clue: hindi yan ang sim ko.hehe...) It's quite OK. Handled the interview very well, and met a couple of CoE students from Mapua. By the way, its UST interview week in that company, kaya out of place ako. Last week pa kasi ininterview yung mga taga-UP. Then, I was asked to return at 2 PM. But I have another interview in Ortigas at 4 PM and I am afraid that I may not be able to make it. So I rescheduled my next interview for next week.

My initial plan is to go to Megamall and eat my lunch there after my first interview. But, TJ texted me and suggested na ituloy na ang interview sa _____ (siguro naman alam niyo na tong company na ito) dahil less than an hour lang naman daw yun. He had the interview with the same company last week and guess what. They offered a job to him already! Galeng, congrats! Hemingwayz, I was already at the Ayala MRT station at the time I decided to go back to S____ to have my interview right after eating my lunch at Burger King. At parang nagmahal na ang BK, nalagasan tuloy ako ng 150 pesos. Grrr...

At that time, minumura na talaga ako ng mga paa ko sa sakit. When I arrived at S---- and asked the receptionist if the interview will take a while, she said yes. If I pass the first interview, there is a second one, then a third. Tuloy tuloy daw dapat. And that means I will not make it to my next interview if I continued. Stupid me, I should have asked that question earlier. Now my feet are really on a strike.

*Fast forward to my second interview in Ortigas*

I arrived earlier than scheduled, so there is some time to relax my feet, get it out from those darn shoes (my feet doesn't smell, don't worry) and get ready for my TECHNICAL interview. This is no ordinary interview. From what I have heard from others who applied at the same company, they will give you a hard problem and solve it by making a code on paper. Well, the problem is not that hard really. It's just like our MP in CS180. But I added too many things in the code and I should have done a simpler and better approach. But that's ok, I've defended myself very well.

After that tiring hell of a day, a nice share of blended coffee should keep my sanity intact. Parang pilay na ako maglakad pagkalabas ng PSE building, pero kinaya ko pa rin para lang makapag-kape. A Brownie Javakula from Seattle's is the best thing for the job to recover the lost calories or Adenosine Triphosphate or whatever. No Starbucks anytime soon because of that silly little planner.

Things to buy:
- something that will make my shoes softer
- THICK socks
- stored value ticket (pero bakit parang sold out palagi?grrr...)
- extra black and ????? pants (I don't know the color, I'm sorry)
- A cool polo (from G2000. Sale sila hanggang Feb 20. 40% off!)
- A shirt from oxygen (my official outfit sponsor. ganda talaga ng mga shirts nila)
- perfume/cologne/whatever pampabango (because I'm always borrowing the perfume at the sala without permission)
- a valentine's gift for myself. A love doll maybe. haha! joke.

As you can see, iba na ang itsura ng blog ko. Got this from blogskins. Ang mahirap lang ay editing many lines of HTML and CSS code pero ok lang naman. I had what I want.

At siyempre mahirap din na magisip ng mga title ng bawat part ng blog. Naubos ang creative juices ko. And see the header? Ako gumawa niyan. Kahit na medyo may pagka-amateurish looking. First time kong gumawa ng header.hehe...

Ayoko sanang gawing medyo madrama ang tagline ng aking blog pero yun yata ang uso ngayong papalapit na ang balentayms.haay..

I shouldn't have gone to the University Job Fair...well at some part of the Bahay ng Alumni. Call centers have been calling me for me to apply as a call center representative. I said...what! I've applied for a technical job in their company and now you are hiring me for a job answering calls from enraged customers. No way! I have nothing against call centers, nothing really (aside from the fact that my fungus-faced brother-in-law that I hate and despise so much works in a call center). But at least look at my job preference, its a column in your freaking sign-up sheet. Grrr...

Okay, I will stop na. I'm beginning to sound like him. All of this job hunting is sucking (what a word!) all the energy, money and time from me.

So why am I applying for so many jobs but in the end, you will only choose one from the ones that accepted you? Collect and Select? Maybe. Siguro sigurista lang talaga ako. Sigurista lang talaga tayo.

For only 100 pesos, meron ka ng unlimited pizza. San ka pa? Para daw sulit ang bayad mo, dapat makakain ka ng at least 6 slices of pizza.

I can only eat 8 slices. Uminom kasi kaagad ako ng coke kaya nadisrupt ang aking digestive system. At least naka break-even (marketing term, c'mon!). Pero may ibang tao na kayang ibankrupt ang Greenwich, damay pa ang ibang branch. Imagine 20 SLICES! partida pa yan, 30 minutes left na lang bago mag 2pm dumating si Ernest (grabe!5 peso/slice). Second place ay 16 pcs na. C'mon talaga.

So many things to do this last week, lalo na yung last week! Job Fair kasi sa Engg last week (kumikita ang computer shops at mga xerox people para sa pagprprint ng resume at pagrerecopy ng TCG). Ngayon naman ay University wide Job Fair sa Bahay ng Alumni. Pumunta ako kanina at nagbigay ng mga resume...ewan ko na lang kung qualified ako. Hindi ko kinaya ang mga companies na sooper (with a capital S) sa pagiging aggresive in pulling you to their booth.

I had my very first interview last Friday, and (I think) it went very well naman. Ewan ko lang yung technical interview na mahirap daw yung problem. Let's just wait and see.

Sana makuha ako ng dream company ko...or maski ano na may mgandang sahod at benefits.keri na. Pero sana makagraduate ako. hekhek...

After kong malugi ng 100 pesos dahil sa raffle raffle na yan at yung ibang tao ay nakakuha ng 25pesos na load bilang consolation price, babawasan ko na ang pagiging mainisin ko. Baka masyadong naapektuhan ang aking aura at lumalayo ang good luck sa akin.

Wala akong napamaskuhan nung Pasko. Pero hitik sa pagkain. Yung dadalawang niregalo sa akin ay talagang gusto at inaasam ko.

Boring ang New Year. instead of celebrating it sa bahay, pumunta kami sa isang hotel sa bandang Makati at dun pinalipas ang bagong taon. Pero tinulugan ako ng mga kasama ko. Kamusta naman? So lumabas ako ng hotel ng bandang 11:30 at naghanap ng pwedeng puntahan. After some walking, napadpad ako sa paseo de roxas at nakapanoo ng 20 minute fireworks display right in front of me. Iba pala talaga ang feeling pag halos nasa harapan mo lang yung fireworks. May extrang kabog sa dibdib. Mas nakakaexcite.

Sinalubong ko man ang aking Bagong Taon ng nag-iisa, babalik at babalik din ako sa aking pamilya. (read:bumalik ako sa hotel at uminom kami ng white wine.)

At ngayon may pasok na naman. Nakumpleto na ang tulog ko. Kelangan bawasan ang timbang gawa ng fruit salad, hamon at halayang ube.

2 days to go

Merong mangyayari sa Wednesday, November 29. Hindi ko alam kung ano.hehe...

Sa mga kabarkada ko sa Bulacan: Pasensiya. Yung party na ginawa nung bago magstart ang sem ang blowout ko sa inyo. Hindi na rin kasi ako makakabalik ng Bulacan kasi sobrang dami na ng ginagawa.

Sa mga awitaners: Kapag natapos na yung fruitcake by wednesday, magpapa-pizza ako! Pero sabi ni fatso si lew lang ang magpapapizza. hehe...

Sa mga taga-dept: pinagiisipan ko pa kung magpapa-pizza din ako. Kasi sobrang mahal nun, lalo na ang yellow cab. Tsaka kung wala dun si... tignan natin...

Sa mga close/best friends ko here in UP: Pinagiisipan (again!) ko pa kung ano ililibre ko: food (that means McDo, Jollibee, etc.) or Starbucks (para makaipon ng sticker for the planner!).

Mawawalan na ng "teen" ang age ko...*sigh*
